Hi,

We had a problem with our two cats after we moved house, the younger one
was howling at night, and there was a lot of fighting going on. So we
took the younger one to the vet just to check all was physically ok, and
he was fine. However the vet suggested we use a plug-in Felliway
dispenser to try to calm them. What an amazing change just within the
hour ! No howling last night and this morning lying beside each other in
front of the fire. So if your cat is troubled, you know where to go :-)

Yeah, it worked for two of my females (spayed, both) that I have.  They just
can't tolerate each other.  One hid behind the TV all the time, coming out
to eat, drink & litterbox.  The other slept in the bedroom all the time.

Then one of the younger (neutered) males, became very skittish.  Would
barely leave my husband's office chair, and when he did, he was constantly
on the lookout for something.  We removed the feliway diffusers, and after a
month, he was back to normal.  I guess he was smelling some 'strange cat'
and coulnd't find it.

I gave away the diffusers and all the refills I had,  and try to intervene
whenever those 2 females confront each other.

Mmm, yes I did notice they were sniffing the air and looking a bit
puzzled when we plugged it in, guess we'll just have to keep an eye on
them and see how it goes !

What exactly *is* Feliway? A herb, some chemical mixture?
Does it affect other living beings too?

We can't get this here at all.

Carola, have you searched the Internet.  Feliway is readily available (at
least online) in a number of countries.  If you do search, note that the
correct spelling is "Feliway."
Feliway is used for behavior modification and can be very useful in reducing
stress. It is available in plug-in diffusers (with refills available) and as
a spray. I used the plug-ins so it can be working all the time. I no longer
need it, but it was very helpful when I adopted Duffy and wanted to
introduce him to my resident cat (Holly). Now I use it only when I think
there could be some stress, such as when I will be away for a few days (very
rare for me), and I keep them in different rooms. The spray is excellent for
an occasional use, such as spraying the carrier about 20 minutes before you
take your cat to the vet, but the plug-in diffuser is better for long-term
use because it releases premeasured doses. Refills can be purchased for the
dispenser. One bottle lasts a little more than a month.  Here is a link to a
study done at Ohio State University:

This is very interesting indeed, thank you.
This looks like a sort of anti depressive for cats or some tranquilizer or
am I wrong?

You see, I'm old fashioned and don't own a credit card, therefore it's
difficult to order online.
Then again my cats are quite at ease anyway. But when I got Minka, the
ex-feral, a year ago Feliway might have helped. But then I gained her
confidence with lots of stroking and playing and discussing life with her.

It's a synthetic cat facial pheremone, so they smell it and think
everything's safe.

Have you tried your vet? I didn't know we could get it in New Zealand until
I had to take one cat to the vet just before Christmas. As we were sitting
there waiting, I noticed it on the shelf behind reception. It's not cheap,
but it works.

Many people find that Feliway works very well -- and I am among them.  I
used 3 Feliway dispensers/diffusers when I first adopted Duffy.  Holly had
always rejected every cat in the past, and was aggressive to the point of
being "vicious" toward any other cat in her vicinity.  This time, I "did it
right" -- that is, I took lots of care and time with the introduction, and I
used Feliway.  The two cats became good friends, and I did not have *any*
negative reaction to Feliway.  I no longer need it, but I will termporarily
use it again when I go on vacation this summer and have a pet sitter.

no idea
no info

when u move the walls are usually painted
the carpets are usually cleaned

an electro whatever system sounds like sleeping under a high tensiopn wire.
lets not go there

does a cat feel stress after moving
YES always
they often look to you to see how you cope.

keep your pets close day one, and night one.

fear means nothing, when mom says come on baby

tender loving care or a box that buzzes.
