after seeing my adult cat use my kittens litter box and reading about cat toilet training, I invested in a fully enclosed litter box, I got it at the bargain shop for $30. Its got a very large base, that can hold a deep amount of litter, a little cap ontop for air venting, which also contains a little pooper scooper too as well as a clear perspecs door for the cat to climb through. Ive been using the big bags of clay based kitty litter, as I found it to be cheep. Ive been told, the expensive crystal litters can last a lot longer, provided you scoop the poo out of course, is that true, or is it more economical to to buy the cheep clay based one. regards Nathan  Signature+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+- WWW.MAD-BIKER.COM +-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+- I tried the crystal type of litter and found it useless, the urine accumalated at the bottom of the box, even when there was plenty of litter in it! SignatureSandra I use scoopable ExquisiCat scented cat litter (in an enclosed litterbox), and find it extremely economical, because - provided that the litterbox is cleaned every day - the remaining litter stays fresh. The urine forms clay balls in the litter, and they are easily removed. Nothing puddles on the bottom. A 40 pound box costs me about $10 at PetsMart, and that lasts very long time. Just remember to keep the litter at least 3 inches deep in the box, so the "cat deposits" don't stick to the bottom. BTW, I share my home with 2 cats, while my daughter has 6 of them and she uses the same method and the same scoopable litter. In both houses, one can't tell that there is a cat in there unless one sees a cat. Personaly I would go with a clumping wheat or corn based litter such as "World's Best Litter" which you can read about at http://www.worldsbestcatlitter.com/ or wheat based at http://www.swheatscoop.com/ . I have used "Worlds Best ever since I got my babies and they love it. I tryed others with no luck. I switched to Clear Choice crystal litter and it is more economical than clay litter. Another advantage is that it is nearly odor free. You need to scoop out the poo daily. I also stir the litter every few days, as my cat tend to urinate on the same spot of the litter box. |
