Is it necessary or advisable to keep the hair trimmed short
around the anal area of a Maine Coon in-door house cat?
This would be assuming that this procedure might lessen the
possibility of fresh litter box feces to "stick" around that
area of the pet Maine Coon.
Thanks in advance for any info about this. ---John

Well, only you can determine if it's neccessary.. Is there a sticking
problem? If your cat isn't willing or able to clean themselves, your options
are somewhat limited. Cleaning the area yourself is a possibility, but not
very practicle if this is a daily occurence. If it's that kind of frequency,
then shaving is definatly something to consider.

Of the longhairs I've had, the only time they needed the butt area shaved is
when they were ill, and after one got old and infirm. If your kitty has a
problem with cling-ons, by all means, shaving the area solves the problem. The
two longhairs I have now have never needed it though.
