> Do male cats make a crying, groaning noise to attract female cats in heat? Similar to the noise a female cat in heat makes?

Short, sweet and to the point. I like that.
Yes, tomcats can and will become vocal when trying to find a mate. They
do this to attract females in their "vocal" area. When a female in heat
responds, the mating calls become louder and more frequent until the tom
finds her. Funny, it usually doesn't take them very long to "sniff them
out". Then the real vocal fun begins. Hissing, spitting, yowling, etc.
Of course this is all just a big show, and it seems to be a must do
thing before they will actually start to mate. I know that some females,
even though they are in heat, will not necessarily mate with just any
tom cat that comes along. She seems to know which tom is the alpha tom,
and would rather wait for him to make his presence known. This way she
feels that she is assured of strong healthy kittens with good genetics.
I just thought that this might be interesting to you. Sorry for the ramble.

Thanks for the information. I new that female cats would call, but I've
never had a tomcat before, so i wasn't really positive what he was trying
to accomplish!
