Adult Cat Acne (on top off everything else! >;o)

Hi everybody :o)

You are a warm and wonderful group! Thanks for your posts
regarding our Gilesy's proposed trip to NY, when we move from England
on Feb.15.  This challenge is still unresolved. I have Nightmares of
him freezing to death, even  if we *do* receive an affordable quote
from the broker who would ship him from
Birmingham to Newark, via Lufthansa (sorry if I spelled the airline
name  incorrectly; I have drunk 2 pints of good ole British cider & I
am such a lightweight! >;o)

here I have another topic.  Has anyone else's kitty been
diagnosed with *Adult Cat Acne*???  Really, GIlesy has zits!
We have been back & forth  to the vet several times; he  has completed
2 courses of antibiotics, and we clean his chin twice a Day with a
vet-prescribed antibacterial cat acne medicine.

Gilesy continues to scratch his chin all Day long, in between chin
cleansings...His chin is raw-looking, with a couple of actual
whiteheads, which I think he enjoys popping! He has a pizza chin!
*But kidding aside, I know this  condition is driving him crazy, and
it's certainly making us feel terrible for him. The first vet we took
him to  decided to send us home with an Edwardian type collar to place
upon him, in order to keep him from scratching. Since we had to use an
RSPCA clinic,  rather than a private veterinarian, said vet did not
have time to place the collar himself. So when we arrived home with
the overly-grand looking collar, we placed it on him, tried to adjust
it as tightly a spossible, but it was obviously too cumbersome: he
went rolling down the stairs with it, trying (successfully) to shake
it off! When we returned to the vet, we were told they had erred...we
had been given a collar suited for a small to medium *dog*...Gilesy is
on the large side for a domestic kitty, but.....c'mon! Anyway, during
his 2 subsequent trips to the vet, we were not given a collar, but
only the same antibiotics and cleansing solution. I feel desperately
sorry for the Gileser,, whose chin resembles that of a sad &
unfortunate adolescent.

We continue trying.....I am beginning to think...perhaps Gilesy is
not *meant* to go to the States with us after all! :( :o(
We would need to have a health certificate from a private vet within
10 Days before we depart...I wonder if he would even pass a vet exam
for this purpose.

GIlesyCat....we love him so...our Hearts are so sad!

The people from the company who were trying to arrange his transit
via Germany have not gotten back to us, despite the fact that we have
spoken with them several times. The reply is that they are "still
working on getting a good price to ship GilesyCat."

SIGH................MEW!!!.......................SAD........................

Has anybody else had experience with adult cat acne? Will it
ever go away? Will a vet provide a health certificate, even with
Gilesy's pizza chin?

My 92-year-old grandmother is planning to provide a home for
Gilesy while we seek our new home back in the States. Will she freak
out over his acne-scarred chin??

Are we even meant to try to take our beloved Gileser with us to NY???

Sorry I'm so verbose.....it's been a Forever fault of
mine............

Thanks for reading and for any comments you may have. GIlesy is
a family member....I know you understand! I only want him to be
alright.....He seems so nervous lately, between vet visits, chin
cleanings, the boxes scattered throughout the house, and all the
various  movements toward our Journey.....
He certainly knows something is up! Poor Gilesy.

Poor Sweet Little Soul. :o(

Please don;t think I'm crazy. We've had no break since our baby was
born Nov. 6, 2003. We've had a million crazy things happen, and I just
want us all to be settled and alright already.....I have always
thrived on Change.....Now I seek Peace for my little family, of which
GIlesyCat is a major part..............

Thanks, and I hope all your kitties are purring......and I hope
*you* are purring, as well!

    Happy Weekend!

Sending You Warm HeartVibes,
Cheryl Faith

1. Acne is not a medical condition that would affect your cat's ability
to be transported to the U.S.

2. Family is family, whether animal or human, and you don't leave family
behind.

3. You need to calm down and stop all this obsessing. You're wasting a
lot of energy worrying when you should be using that energy to find a
way to make things happen so Giles makes it to the states with you.
Where there's a will there's a way.

"Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one
elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and
splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then
providence moves too. A whole stream of events issues from the decision,
raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents, meetings and
material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his
way."
