Well a about 6 weeks ago i got a 6 week old female kitten. at first my 1
year old male cat (desexed) didnt like her, wouldnt go near her.

the last 2 weeks, they have started to play together in play fights, and
chase each other around

at night we lock her in her room and he gets to run around free.

last  2 nights when we locked her in her room to sleep, hes gone to the door
and wanted to go in, so we let him inside and he went inside the room to
sleep as well.

He use to be locked in the same room when we got him, but that hasnt
happened for about 6 months.

They have gotten surprizingly close the last two weeks and im wondering if
this is normal?

regards
Nathan

Nathan,

I would consider yourself lucky that it took as little time as it did
for the two of them to bond. Some people have problems in this area for
months. My two bonded very quickly as well. Well, to be honest, my male
didn't have a choice. When I brought home my 4 week old female kitten,
(I found her next to my car tire), I showed her to him.  She crawled out
of my hand, and went to nuzzle next to him. He hissed at first, then he
licked her tiny head. Well, that was all it took for her. She wouldn't
leave him alone. Everytime I put her on the floor, my male would come
over to check her out, and as soon as he did, she would nuzzle up to
him. If he tried to move away, she would follow him to wherever he was.
He finally gave up trying to get away. Now, you can't seperate the two
of them. If he can't see her, he howls until she comes running. If he
leaves the room to go and do something, she follows him.
Have fun with the new little one, they are a joy to watch.

Even better than normal, count yourself lucky!
I experienced this with Micky and Cindy.
But they only play, they don't lie near each other or groom each other.

well after having 2 other cats, which they did play fight a bit together.

then the current older cat when i introduced to my 13 year old female cat,
and that wouldnt have anything to do with him, however she passed on <sob>
from diabeties complications.

So i feel i am lucky, it just very surprized me, when he wanted to go into
her room to sleep.

which he did again last night, for about 5 or so nights in a row now.

So much so that ive put his food in the room now since he spends so much
time in their.

happy families.

Jacquie0, yours sound cute.

regards
Nathan

Thanks Nathan, I think that they are, but then again I might just be a
little biased about them. As I said in an earlier post, I am going over
the pictures of them, and when I decide which ones to post, I will do
so. Then you can judge for yourself.
