I need help. My female cat has a tendency to poop indoors at night even though I've started leaving the catflap open 24/7 to encourage her to go out. I am loathe to have to go back to using litter tray particularly as her brother is used to going out and I'd rather not disturb his routine. Any suggestions?

Yes, a litter box. What's so bad about it? I'd rather have one than clean
the carpet. The cat may get over this again. And, be glad if it stays
indoors at night. There are *many* dangers out there!

Yeah, put the litter boxes back. Mine will come in just to poop. It's secure
for them and they cover their poop and urine so predators can't hone in on
them. The house is an even more secure than going outside and having the
odor detected. I don't know what area you're in, but there are plenty of
predators around here.

I would definately put the litter boxes back. Your cat may not want to go out in the cold to potty. If your other cat chooses to go out and that is OK with you he can still go out. Your kitty needs the option to go out or stay in and use the litter. The sooner the litter boxes are returned the easier it will be for your kitty to break the habit of pooping on the floor. Old habits die hard! Good luck to you and your kitty!
