I finally got my 4 kittens over their upper respiratory so they can get
fixed, (they passed it back & forth for 2 months!)and was doing the 2 boys
first but the new vet can't do it till Monday the 31st. They are 6 months on
2-10-05.  And, damn it, I'm pretty sure one of the girls went in heat
tonight. She's crying constantly and rolling all over the ground. One of the
boys kept smelling her and tried to mount her once, but I yelled & he left &
is sleeping in other room now.

I'll seperate them tonight & call my old vet tomorrow I guess (their rates
have gone through the roof, hence the change). My ? is: does it cost more to
spay while in heat? Do vets they even do it? Or should I ask for an
emergency neutering of the two boys tomorrow? I'm so upset! I have 3 adults
& the 4 kittens and cannot have ONE MORE cat!! Thanks for any help!

Cats can be safely spayed when in heat and, depending on the vet you use
they may or may not charge a little extra for the procedure. There's no
good reason to wait until a cat comes out of heat to spay it.

material assistance, which no man could have dreamt would have come his
way."

Thanks for you advise, I think the best thing is to get the 2 girls in
tomorrow or Friday at latest. I was saving them because of the cost, but the
vet will just have to let me pay 1/2 & 1/2. on them. I was with Eastside
Vets 20 years and paid over $3,000 on my pets w/them, so I'd hope they will
let me do that. Anyway, they are bigger, have more vets & can probably get
them in this week.
