Isabella had a wonderful checkup, completly healthy, all blood work was good, she got shots, and all the other test done. She needs to go back next week to have her teeth cleaned but other than that she is good to go. So no more quarentine. I really hope her owner does not decide to claim her. I am not having her microchiped instead my vet will tatto her. I tried to have one of my animals microchiped a few years ago and had such a horrible experience with it that I decided not to do it again. So the vet will use a topical anistecia and tatto the same mark that my other 2 have. We are going to go to PetSmart today for treats, toys and a new bed. So I am requesting some purrs that Isabella gets to stay with us.

Best wishes and lots of purrs :) Glad all is good. Has she been spayed
already?
I've never heard of these tatoos, how are they done and where?
What happened with that microchip experience?
Holly - 20 Jan 2005 15:57 GMT
The microchip experience was horrible about 2 years ago
I was given a handsome black male cat named Hioudini,
a friend of mine suggested the microchip so I had it done.
Hioudini developed several infections at the site we cleared
those up at first but the infections continued to come and go for the
next 5 or 6 months. Finally I had to have it removed and everything cleared up. So I swore never agian would I implant a foreign object
in any of my animals. Hioudini has since went to the Rainbow Bridge
(he was a severe diabetic and his kidneys failed on us)
My vet told me about how the hunters in our area will have
there hunting dogs tattoed usually with a mark of the owners
choosing. My animals 3 cats and one dog are all tattoed on
there left hindquarter with a lucky 4 leaf clover and a number
that I choose when the first one was done. My vet uses a topical numbing cream before hand to minimize pain. and the tatto is
only the size of a nickle. None of my animals have had adverse reactions to this so it is my preference to the microchip. I know
that the chips can contain alot of information so for my Pheniox
(who does have some health problems) she wears an additonal tag
that I ordered from lifealert(they make id tags for health
problems for humans) all of my animals have tags with
their name, mine and my husbands name and our work and
home phone numbers.
And yes Isabella was already spayed.
