I looked at my cat's water bowl this morning and the water was yellow.  What
would cause that?  I bought a large bowl in the big dog section of the
store.  Water is cheap and she likes to get her paws wet.  I thought that if
the water dish that looked like a toilet, she would be more likely to drink
out of it.  Is she now toilet trained?  I'm thinking about throwing a gold
fish in the bowl.  Does anyone else do that?

I may have solved the mystery.  One of her cat toys, a brown mouse, was near
the water dish and soaking wet.  She must have thrown it in and fished it
out later.  When I squeezed it, the water that came out was brownish.

Another theory I had is that she was burying poop in her litter box when she
suddenly realized that her paws were unbelievably foul.  She was thinking "I
normally clean myself with my tongue, but not this time.  No frigging way."
So she went over to her cat bowl and splashed around.  Maybe I should put a
small hand towel near the bowl to see if she'll use that.

I think she just decided that the mouse needed a wash!
Most likely the mouse fell into the water by accident and then she fished it
out, great game!

LOL :) Its worth a try. I keep hinting to mine 5 I could use some helpin
washing dishes, but so worry, I am not succeding, I really don;t know why!
:)

As for the dish colors, I bought a new glass dish for a room for them to
have another water dish, and put some blue decorative glass stones inside as
well as blue stone egg someone gave me as a (useless) present :) :) couple
of hours later, water was all blue it was that blasted egg! :) It was
apparently painted (Daah, didnt consider stones dont come in blue naturally
he he) :)

The first thing is to try and figure out....if you can....what the
yellow is from.

I had a similar situation a while back, I gave my cats fresh water
and came home to find the water was green.  What I finally figured out
was one of the cats got ahold of one of my Vitamin B pills and that
was what was in the water bowl.

BTW, my relatives think i'm crazy but I give my cats bottled water.
If I won't drink tap water why should I expect my cats to drink it?

I think you are crazy too, unless you live in an area where tap water is
really dodgy. My boyfriend would have a fit if I drank bottled water, and
would lose the will to live if I gave it to the cat cubs!

I should point out the tap water around tastes really bad and
there is much concern about how "safe" the water is.

Also it should be pointed out our water rates are
the highest in the nation, alot of the water
rates charged go towards cleaning the harbor.

London water doesn't taste great, so we have a filter that you fill up
from the tap, which costs ?2 a month for the filter cartridge. It's
perfectly safe, though.

Hasn't done him any harm, I'm 18 weeks pregnant despite having been on the
pill (-:

I buy bottled for my babies to so you are not crazy

I change my cat's water twice a day, so I use the filtered water from my Pur
Filter.  I drink tap water or filtered water myself, it just tastes better
longer from the filter.
