Odd places the cat likes to go

They seem odd to me anyway.

One is on top of  the dead DVD (Sony DVD players suck!)  sitting on
top of a box on by my desk.  The DVD isn't even plugged in, so it
can't be warm.  It's not carpeted, so I can't imagine it's any more
comfortable than any of a number of other places she could go.  It's
not even very high up, so it's not like she has a great view.  And it
doesn't even provide anything interesting to play with.

What really struck me as odd is that last nite, she was all curled up
on the couch with me falling asleep, but when I got up to go to bed as
soon as I put her down, she walked slowly back into the living room,
got up on the DVD and just sat there - in the dark.  There's nothing
to see unless she's figured out the bogeyman lives in the dead DVD
player.  (He doesn't, I already checked.)

Weird, huh.  Do you think she's mentally disturbed?

Nope, she's probably not retarded. Mine likes to go into the dark room in
back and sit on a stone cold marble windowsill. The other likes to plop down
in front of a heating grate.

Not at all, it's just the proper size for her. Don't even *think* of getting
rid of that machine!
And, cats can see in the dark, and they like to meditate all by themselves.
I just looks like she has found her favourite spot :-)
Be happy, it could be a worse spot like your favourite leather chair, your
documents or the like LOL.

Have to disagree, have one, it works great.

Sounds like it is an enclosed place to hide that is high up.

Bear in mind a cat can see better in the dark than you or I can
see during the day.

If it wasn't compfortable the cat would move.

Naah. She probably thinks that you are mentally disturbed not to reallise
WHY she likes that old DVD player so much :) (Im right there with you; I
have no idea why :) )

My Tiara is similar, she loves to sit on the amplifier, wether on or not. It
seems to be much more comfy then mine, chairs, sofa or 5 of paded cat beds in
the house :) She used to love VCR, and was hugely upset when we bought Sky
Digital box which is too small for her enourmous backside :)

Also they seem to love to sit in their furr coat on a window seal - In the
SUMMER,when temperature INSIDE is min 30 degrees Celsius!!!!!! So on Window
seal, behind the heat resistant blind, in a furr coat,  must be like an
oven!  It seems the hotter the better with them! Go figure!

Finally they seem to like to chill at the edge of something: table/cupbord,
worktop, but always the edge, about to fall down. It must be some adrenaline
rush thrill :)

My kittens favorite place to be is to balance on the back off our rocking chair. I have no idea how she stays up there but it is officially her spot now. My other cat likes to lay on the back of the toilet now that is a cold spot I hate to go in there in winter because it is so cold but lil Mama loves it. Go Fiqure they are cats we will never understand them but you can bet they have us fiqured out.

LOL, so true, they know exactly how to find a suitable home and use us to
the max! And all they need to do is give us that look, lil meow and a nudge
on the leg :)

Exactley, they just let us think we are in charge, And they have it so easy, all they have to do is lay around and give us orders. Feed Me, Clean my box (if not done right away the gifts are clawed out of box and deposit on floor) pet me, don't pet me, talk to me, let me out. ETC Oh but I would not change one bit of it. Call us crazy but the hubby and I are seriously thinking about keeping all the grandkitties when they get here. That will make 5 cats but we have the room for them. I don't know yet guess we will see. I want every one to know this, my vet will spay as early as 8 weeks, neuter as early as 12 so all the kitties will be fixed ASAP and Pheniox will be fixed at the same time they do her c-section. SO NO MORE MISTAKES.

I agree 100%. No matter how much it cost or how much pain I went through
when my QT got run over, I'd never be without them for a second. I use to
value my material things. Now I can;t care less. As long as they are happy
and healthy, who cares if few of my precious vinyl records ar scratched :)

Oh that would be 5 times more fun! I got 5 (originally planned 2 LOL) and I
can honestly say I got 5 times more the fun and pleasure then from one cat.
Something is ALWAYS happening, someone is always bugging and play
fightingwith someone, but they all get on reasonably well, as have
established who;'s the boss and who is not :) And its not 1 boss! Tiara is
the boss of Shadow. But Shadow is the boss of all the boys. But all the boys
will bug Tiara :) Go figure :)

>I want every one to know this, my vet will spay as early as 8 weeks, neuter as early as 12

Altho the vet will do it, there is no need to perform such a drastic
operation(spaying = hysterectomy) at such early age cos of their developing
boddies.Correct me if I'm wrong, but females dont; get into their first heat
at least untill they are minimum 4 months old, so maybe dothe operation
around 3, 3.5 months rather then only 8 weeks. In UK, vets don;t perform any
of these to till the age of 6 months old.In USA they do it as early as your
vet. Where are you from, which country?

With boys, I suppose 12 weeks is not as bad,as operation is less
complicated.

>so all the kitties will be fixed ASAP and Pheniox will be fixed at the same time they do her c-section. SO NO MORE MISTAKES.

:) Accidents happen, we know you didn't mean for her to have babies, but
what happened happened, I understand you not wanting her to abort them, I
don't think I would either.

You are a responsible owner and will have them all done and that's what
counts.

My cats do that too.   The reason they like it......it's one of
the highest points in the room.

OK, my post is in response to all the above, this subject. My Rexie
likes to lay under the puter table next to the (I can't member the
exact name of this thing - it's a power supply/battery thing that you
have plugged in all the time, so if your power goes off, this thing
keeps the puter going for 15-20 min so you can shut if off properly
and not screw stuff up!) (How's that for a description!?)

Anyhow, obviously he does it cause it's warm. My concern is that it's
electric. I don't know if it's safe for him - due to the emissions? We
had a Siamese years ago who loved to perch on the tv cable box (also
warm and electric). She ended up dying from cancer after five
operations, and I think we've blamed ourelves ever since.

Am I being silly about this? Has anyone heard of this (being near
electric stuff) being dangerous?

I've wedged a small box near it (not touching) so he can't lay by it,
but . . . .

Comments, pls.
