As a few of you are aware I have a 1 year old Siamese named Pheniox (who is
pregnant and due in about 3 to 4 weeks. Pheniox is also both partially deaf
and completly blind due to abuse by previous owners son. When I first got
her she would occassionally take of running and just run in to walls ect.
She finally stopped that once she adjuxted to her blindness. Well Friday i
noticed that it has started again, She will start by sitting in the middle
of the Living room floor and will mew in this voice that sounds like a very
high pitched scream and then she will just bolt off running and smaks right
into the Kitchen wall. She stands up shakes herself off walks around a
little dazed and then will return to the living room to do it again. I took
her to the vet on Saturday to make sure something strange was not going on
but everything was fine. Lately we have had to keep her and the kitten
seaperated. This is the only change at the house. What in the world could be
going on is my baby losing her mind?

I don't know, but introduce the cat to the quarters now where she can have
the kittens, she could feel insecure.
Tell me, how did she find her way home then when she escaped?

That is a question I wish I could answer, I went out that morning and she was on the porch, I am so glad she did not get hit by a car, My hus band and I searched our back yard for her but we think now she may have been hiding there. We are not sure. She has set up nest in our closet I think she stays there alot so I put thick blanket and actually made it almost like a hide out for her. I had to seperate her and the kitten because she was getting very aggressive towards her. My vet says nothing is wrong with her but she acts nuts.

There isnt likely to be a mouse in there - or something making some
sort of noise that she is chasing ?  mechanical noise even, pipes
moving etc ?

if she is running at the same part all the time it may be so.

putting something soft there might be a good idea too as she may hurt
herself  (old pillows etc )

I never even considered that, I just assumed that with her bad hearing that she would not register things like that, I will check on that this evening definiatly. It is always the same spot. THANKS for the advice.

Well it turns out my dear Pheniox was letting us know there was a problem. We have a leaking pipe I quess she could hear the water dripping and it was getting on her nerves. Plumber came out and fixed it and now everything has settled down, no more wall bashing Thank god.

WOW! Isn't that amazing! I wonder what exactly upset her?Or was she upset?
Was she worried cosof pregnancies? Was she trying to let you know in some
way? Does anyone have an idea?

You said she has limited hearing, so surely this woudn;t drive her nuts. I
always have TVon,and often loud music, and mine are perfectly cool with it,
one even sleeps ON the amp next to both large speakers :) Saying that I do
have a crazy neighbour who moans about every lil sound including the TV when
on lowest! So you never know :)

You never know, As soon as the leak was fixed she seem to lose all intrest in banging herself in to the wall. I think she is enjoying being pregnant, she gets extra food, and a little extra attention, and she loves the vet so I think she is really enjoying going there so often. Who knows what she is really thinking?
