Just out of the blue, earlier this evening, she started to act as if
something inside her was going wrong. She began meowing as if in bad pain. I
called 911, believing my cat was dying. Got ahold of this emergency vet care
place and preparing to take her there immediately in a cab with me and go
there.
Suddenly, it stopped, whatever it was that was hurting her

She's fine now, just got up from purring in my lap for a bit.
What could that have been? She scared the hell out of me tonight!

I'm not a vet, but Micky war seriously ill for two days, then he threw up
something ghastly, went and ate the amount of food of two days and has been
happy ever since. Just watch her closely. Is there a place where you can
phone for advice? We can ring the animal hospital for free advice here.

A general note here, everyone is open to contradict:
Some people in this group suggest "see a vet" quickly. Of course I'm not
against vets, but we can also use common sense. I did that with the children
too. Sometimes you definitely need a doctor, sometimes you are better safe
than sorry, but other times you can wait and see or use a house remedy.
There are excellent cat books on the market.
I mean vets are expensive, and not everyone is loaded with money.

I would bring the cat to the vet.   The vet needs to do a full exam
and rule out any medical problems.   This means blood tests, possible
other tests.

It may be something serious.  It may be nothing at all to worry about.
Let the vet do what the vet goes to school all those years to learn.

Yes vets are sometimes expensive.  But look at how expensive it is
to NOT see a vet when the cat needed one.

I suppose we can all get some acute pains at times in our lives, that are
just one off, and doctors will be no wiser. I remember once when I was a
teenager I had this excruciating pain in my stomach and was screaming all
the way to docs. Cos I eat lots of vinegar they suspected stomach ulcer, but
after all the consultations, medications, x-rays and stuff, they found
nothing. Pain subsided within a few hours with some pain killers, and perhaps
a general antibiotic-just in case- and never returned. So God knows what's
caused it!

Could she have a big hairball? Give her some extra hairball medication, just
in case. Check her for any possible cuts or bruises, maybe a toothache? Feel
her all over like a vet and see if your pressing her causes any pain
anywhere, or if you can feeling anything unusual.

You sure its not a call for a boyfriend in heat :) Has she been spayed?

Sometimes if I take my Tiara in a car (to friends house), the following
night she will always whinge about it, at around 3 am. Loudly and suddenly,
out of no-where.I used to jump cos I thought she was in pain and is about to
die, but finally I figured this only happens after a car ride ! :) I thought
she was OK in cars,  but I guess she is not impressed! And is giving me back
by waking me up :)

You should re-evaluate your analysis that pain was the problem.  My cats
yowel like hell has possessed them sometimes too and they are just hollering
to hear themselves.  (They go in the bathroom or other echo-y areas of the
house to do the deed, sometimes they do it late at night.)  Coyote's holler
at each other, lions do... so no reason a domestic cat might not have some
similar behaviors. My two male cats use this as an invitation for the other
to come chase and wrestle.

Did the cat look like it was in pain when you picked it up?  What other
behaviors did the cat exhibit that indicate to you this was pain?

It sounds to me like normal cat-stuff.
