I have this wonderful and very intelligent three year old male cat named
Marco, who I have talked about before here.  Marco throws up often (like
maybe 2ce or 3ce a month).  He has done so for a long time and it bothers
me some, but the vet says not to worry.  My other cat never barfs and she
eats more and wider variety than Marco.

Anyway, the reason I write is that I thought he had stopped barfing because
I had not come across (i.e. stepped in) any for quite some time.  Then the
other day, I was sitting in the back room where the litter box is and I
heard barfing sounds.  Marco was in the litter box barfing.  When he
finished, he covered it up and got out.  So now I am thinking how nice and
considerate he is to go in there to barf.  On the other hand, I am worried
because now I can't keep track of his barfing.

Anybody else ever have a cat that went to the litter box to barf?

Our cat Luna began throwing up recently as much as 2-3 times a day.  Our vet
said she probably just had problems with hairballs and gave us some meds.
Now she only barfs once a week, if that.  If your vet said not to worry than
I would trust his/her opinion.

None of our cats have every puked in the litter box.....is there any
difference is appearance/smell of covered up puke than to covered up pee?
If there is than maybe you could tell how often he's puking just by the kind
of clump your scooping (although I wouldn't want to be the one having to
sniff a clump of cat litter to find out what it is!)

At least Marco's being considerate.  If my boyfriend wakes up and steps in
puke one more time I think he's going to go crazy! ^_^  At least he gets up
before me which means he gets cleaning duty! LOL

Good luck with Marco....keep us updated.

I had a cat who would bark once a month, for no reason. When he was about to
bark, he'd run to me and bark right in front of me. As soon as I heard the
sound, I'd get a magazine, napkin, anything handy and put it under his mouth
and he'd barf on it. I thought that was considerate. Then one day I have food
poisoning real bad. I'm praying to the porcelain god for half a day. The next
day I feel better then I hear barfing sounds coming from the bathroom. My cat
was barfing into the toilet. I praised him. He continued to barf in the toilet
when he'd get sick. Of course he never learned how to flush.

I've never heard of a cat who barks

Which is probably good.   Paul Harvey had a news item about a
guy who lodged a protest about his high water bill.   He cancelled the
complaint when he was home sick one day and discovered the cat
had learned to flush the toilet.   Often.  Very Often.

All you have to do is to feed it dog food LOL

That's pricelss.  Cats are such a wonderful mystery!  How can they be so
smart with that little pea brain?  Who knows what goes on in there?
Give your nice cat a hug for me.

I realize now this was just a simple typo..or more likely spell check
trying to "help"...but for just a moment I was picturing this cat
that would 'bark'

Vomiting while using the litterbox is a sign of constipation.  Is it
possible that he was trying to poop, and then vomited instead?

Also, I would get him on a hairball maintenence diet if he is not
already on one.
