Hi everyone! I have a question on the eye infections all my cats have. The
mother cat I think has been the carrier, but never had the red, swollen
eyes, but just clear runny sometimes & sneezes. All 4 kittens and my 3 yr
old have had the full blown eye infections. The vet has seen two kittens &
the 3 yr old & told me mama was the carrier from what I told him and he said
give her the drops too.
I have actual eye drops & also a tube of neosporin-like goo for each kitten
which he said would work faster & better. But two kittens we absolutely
cannot get that stuff in, they claw us to death! So they have been getting
the drops. Sorry so long, but my question is can the drops CAUSE the red,
swollen stuff? My vet is closed on Thursdays and mama's eye started getting
like all the rest of them for the first time after I started the drops. The
bottle tip has not touched anything or the eyes of any of them. It seems the
2 kittens eyes are going back to worse since we switched to drops also, so
we may have to endure the scratches. What do you guys think, until I can ask
the vet Friday?

Then you're fine. Can you hide the drops in a treat like ham or liver p?t??

It is eyedrops. No good idea to hide it in a treat then, is it? :)
Sorry, I dont know the answear for your question, majcm.

Thanks, but they are eye drops, so no hiding in treats. We'll just wrap them
in a towel & do the gel stuff tomorrow till I talk to the vet, but twice a
day they get so upset. They are 4 months & so loving, but I don't want them
to start fearing us. I don't think it hurts, just scares them. Come to think
of it, I wouldn't like gel in my eyes either and I would understand it's for
my own good!
Thanks again, M.C. & Gunnar.

My 2 kits had exactly the same symptoms - and from the sound of it my vet
gave me the same stuff. This didn't do anything and I went back to the vets,
this time he thought it was a respiratory infection (Chlamydia or however
you spell it - clap) and gave me little yellow antibiotic pills which cured
the problem after about 2 days.

Thanks I.P. Buddy is going to vet Friday and we will insist on pills. I'm
sure it's upper respiratory, cause they are sneezing too.
