Puss-n-Boots Mom - 05 Jan 2005 15:09 GMT
2 years ago when my sister found a litter of kittens we took them in, there where 3 originally but only two lived. We bottle feeded them, cared for them, and treated them like children ( my husband and I can't have children)we went as far as to make thm there own little play room. Complete with tree, tunnels, ropes ect. We also went as far as to child proof our house or so I thought. I recently picked up the bad habit of smoking. When I left for work yesterday I did not put my cigarettes on the mantel, I left them on the night stand and when I got home Boots and Puss had apperently being chewing on them. I found Puss in her usual hang out under the bar but I could not find Boots. I called and called and heared a small meek mew. I knew right aqway something was wrong. I will spare you the details but it was off to the emergency vet we went. I did not know this but nicotine is fatel to animals, in low doses it can cause convulsions, bleeding from ears, eyes ect. We had to but our dear Boots down this morning because the vet says that there was no hope for him. Apparently he had been the one chewing on my smokes. Please Please dont make my mistake. I feel as if I killed him and every time I lit up I cry so I guess I will stop smoking. Puss had no affects, I had the vet look at her to make sure. I never in a million years whould have though that this could happen.
RIP dear Boots, Love Mommy, Daddy and Puss.
