I came home yesterday and found a slight mess on the bathroom floor -
not near the litter box. It didn't look like normal poop - much
lighter brown....it kind of looked like it might have been barf as it
actually resembled partially digested canned food. She had canned
food for the first time 2 days previous to that (late xmas treat).
But when I noticed it, and was about to clean it up, she started
clawing at the rug next to it as if she were trying to cover it up
like it was poop.
She did get spayed earlier this week, but has been acting normal other
than seeming to be especially in want of attention, but I attribute
that to her being cooped up in a kennel for xmas and me being
exceptionally busy since I've been back.
It's probably nothing to worry about I'm sure, but she's never barfed
or pooped outside the litter box before.

She probably ate the unfamiliar food too fast and threw it up. Buring
barf is not uncommon with SOME cats. However, if she does thows up
again, call her vet.

My cat throws up about every three weeks for no reason.
I wouldn't worry about your kitty unless her behaviour changes
(listlessness, refusal to eat or drink, etc.) or she throws up a couple more
times.
At least she didn't throw up on your bed - my cat's favourite spot.

May have been a furball, maybe she eats to fast, maybe too much
stress.
If it happens a number of times in the next weeks you might
want to vist your vet.
