In the springtime we brought in a mother cat and her 3 kittens. We found good
homes for 2 kittens and kept the mother and one male kitten. Well... he's over
14 lbs. and 6 months old now. We just love them. His tail is huge. Everything
about him is huge. He resembles a maine coon. They get along fine with our
yorkie too. I'm so glad we did this.

Sounds like things turned out very well for the family. Fourteen pounds is
*huge* for a 6-month-old. He's going to keep growing for probably another year,
too.

I bought a book on maine coons. There was one around at the time so we think
he's half m.c. I don't care ..he's beautiful. We had him and the mom "fixed". I
don't know How big he'll get being mixed but, he's so large already! Huge paws
and very wide shoulders. He's hard now for me to pick up. My husband said he'll
get me a saddle to ride him in the spring. Ha!

How old is your kitty? Maine Coons don't stop growing until they're at least
two. My daughter has one who is about 15 lbs., but the other one is near 30 lbs
and doesn't have an ounce of fat on him.

I've wondered about that. Maine Coones as a defined breed taken from the
standard cat population have only been around a couple centuries and are
basically just big, furry cats, so perhaps your cat could technically be
called a Maine Coone.
