My twelve year old cat is suddenly looking much thinner than usual,
although he is eating his normal amount of Iams, also he seems to be
drinking more water than before. Can anyone please give me some clue
as to what might be the problem ? Thanks for any advice.

There are several reasons, some of them quite serious. You need to take
him to the vet ASAP but I'd personally be suspecting a kidney problem if
he's suddenly drinking a lot of water.

Please do the right thing and take the cat to the vet.

Loss of weight and drinking lots of water is also a sign of diabetes.
Vetrinary help is needed here.
Cheers,
Vixen.

Kidney problems, diabetes, both possibilities and only a vet can diagnose
this stuff. I would take him in ASAP.
Good luck!
Rolf.
