Hey y'all. My cat has recently become electrically charged. What i mean by
that is she shocks me a lot when i'm petting her now, a bit like what
happens when you walk across the carpet in heavy wool socks. Static
electricity builds up and you can end up giving yourself quite a shock when
touching certain things. Does anyone know by my cat has suddenly started
being able to do this, whereas she didn't before.
As a side note, i should admit that i have also been having this problem at
work. (I work on a damn assemblyline.) For some reason i'm getting a lot of
static shocks when touching metal at work now, some of them really do hurt a
little, too. I've been thinking that possibly i'm to blame for whatever's
going on with my cat, somehow transferring something to her after i come
home and pet her. But i just got back from a week out of town yesterday. No
shocks until i arrived back at my apartment and started petting the poor
kitty who'd been all alone for a week.
Anyway, has anyone else had this problem? What would you suggest i do about
it?

Your cat has become electrically charged because you home air is too
dry. Get a humidifier to put some moisture back into the air.

correct...
in winter the air in your house is a lot drier becasue of the heating system
plus..outdoors, cold air holds less *absolute* humidity

Nan, how can you leave a cat alone for a week?
surely some-one must be going in and cleaning
the litter trays and putting fresh food down, or have
you got that little cat trained I get all panicky if I leave
Wilson alone overnight, anyway I posted about his
revenge on me when I did that at Xmas,If I left him
for a week the whole house would have been trashed

I've never left any of my cats alone for a week. The longest I've
ever been gone from home has been for a weekend and then the
neighborbor man came in to feed the dog and check on the cats. Where
in the wide world did you ever get the idea that I've left my beloved
babies alone for an entire week.
I merely answered Jake Blues' post about getting shocked when he
petted his cat. He's the one who left his cat alone for a week, not
me.
