There was a news item on Cnn where a guy is starting
"Companion Air" an alrlines geared for people with
pets.  The pets are always in sight, the cost is often
less than if you left the pet at home with a pet sitter,
and best of all it is safer.  When you fly on a conventional
airline your pet goes in the cargo hold (often with no
air).  The results can be deadly.

What a fantastic idea.  I hope he does well and starts business in Australia
also.

I saw that report on CNN, and it sounds like a great idea.  I also looked it
up on the Internet.  The cost is significantly higher than the cost of
discount air tickets, which is probably to be expected for a small airline
offering this type of special service.  It offers shuttle and charter
service.  Passengers must be flexible because air time may vary by a day or
more (except for Premier Service).  Their web site is here:

I was looking at their site.  The thing to bear in mind is prices are
very arbitrary, they fluctuate alot.  You can go to 5 different
sources for airline tickets and get 5 different prices.  Try
going to expedia or one of the other sites.  You can run
listings for a particular date from city x to city y and get
20 different listings with prices that vary widely.

That's true for "regular" tickets.  However, this airline specializes
specifically in transporting people and their pets -- pets kept in the
cabin, not sent as "baggage."
