I did a dumb thing when my cat was a baby...i didnt get him used to
the car.. So now 2 years later he hates it like crazy.. He's only been
in the car about a total of 4 times.. So when i tried to bring him to
my new home which is 2 hours away... He was meowing so loud like it
was life or death for him.. So after about 5 minutes i brought him
back to our original home.. Luckily my parents still live there.. And
that is his territory.. So i feel better he is there.. But i would
love to have him come up to my house for a weekend or so.. And i dont
know how to do it. Any ideas? By the way my cat is an indoor only
cat..
(off-subject) But check this out.. My dad has him trained so that if
he does want to go outside..(which is like every other day) My dad
opens the porch door , and he stays right there all the time...on the
concrete outside.. He doesnt even attempt to go any further.. My dad
has told him "No" so many times in the past...so now he knows he is
atleast able to go outside on the concrete next to the porch and hang
out there... He never goes any further because he doesnt want to get
yelled at.. Isnt that such a good cat? My dad is 65 and i complimented
him on training him like that.. I didnt think cats were trainable...
(/off-subject)
Any info on the traveling part would be much apprecated...
thanks
mike

You can slowly acclimate him. Put him in a carrier and then sit in the car
without it turned on. When that becomes ok, go to sitting in the car and
starting it up. Just proceed on from there. If you have the patience and
means to do this, it should work.
