We added a new cat named Algae to our family. She is a tabby, is declawed
and a very lovely cat.
We also have Puss, who has been around for 3 years.. When we first got Algae
she was hissing and growling at everything in site. This was okay because it
was a new place, new people and new Cat.!!!!
We have finally been able to get them together without any major hair flying
hiss fest. The only thing we are noticing is that they are picking on each
other. Puss is batting Algae leg when she walks by, follows her around all
time and tries to not let her out of the room. It seems that are taking
turns being Bullies!!!
We are able to leave him alone all night and day, but we (hubby and I)
notice when we get home, this behavior starts.
Is this just to get attention, or jealousy. We were thinking of getting a
water gun to try to stop the bullying.
Your thoughts and ideas would be great!!!!
Thanks

Don't forget...the new cat is invading your resident cat's territory. They
have to have the time to get used to one another. I adopted a 5 year old
female to keep my 4 year old male company. It's been a month and I still have
to watch my boy..who pounces on the new girl. It takes time.

It has been five months since we introduced our cats to our roomates cat and
we still cannot leave them together in a room unattended. We have had a
hell of a time-- good luck to you!

Why introduce another negative factor? The best thing would be to give
them both lots of attention and love so they will feel secure and they
will resolve the dominance/territorial issues on their own.
