Good morning,
My cat is the awesome, he confuses the hell out of me.  He is 1 year old
and over the past month or so he keeps walking into my bedroom at 4:30 in
the morning and meows or claws at my bed to wake me up.  I wake up and
follow him to see what he wants and all he wants is me to pet him while he
eats.  4:30 is not a time that I wake up, I am usually up 2 hours later, why
in the world is he doing this?  It is so messed up because it seems now all
he wants is to be pet while he eats (even when it is not 4:30 AM).  I do not
mind getting up for him but I can't help but feel like his bitch when he
meows and I come running.  The worst part of it is that most of the time he
does not want me to go back to bed after I pet him during his breakfast and
I have to lock him out of my room because he will keep meowing at me.  Is
there anything I can do?  I hate locking him out of the room because he will
just lay at the door looking depressed and when I open the door after
sleeping he gives me this look like I eat kittens for breakfast.

He hears the birds chirping outside and wants to eat. And he
wants company while he eats.

Cats are nocturnal animals.

He has you trained well.

Maybe you should try unlocking the door.  My cats after they
eat will curl up on the bed and sleep while I sleep.

The birds! of course!   Yes he has me well trained but I do not mind so
much.  I am just trying to figure out why 4:30 AM.  I cannot unlock the door
after he eats because once he is up, he wants to play for an hour before he
goes back to bed.

The birds....

Thanks!

Daylight savings time probably has him confused -- what the heck -- it confuses me too!  MLB

my cat usually wakes me up at about the same time
he wants me to feed him
and then let him outside...

sometimes i put him out at night so i can get a good night's sleep
but it does not good
as i wake up at 4:30 or so feeling guilty
then i get up and let him in!

so just as mycat has me trained
face the facts:
your cat has *you* trained !
