Sometimes my cat will lick my face or hair whenever I get near. I
was wondering if it was normal for cats to lick their owners (like dogs)?

My cat's job is to look pretty, smell good, sleep, eat, pee, & poop, in
that order.

I posted a thread about this the other day. Both of mine lick like dogs.
Never seen anything like it!

Artemis gives me a bath every morning at 5:00AM. He's like clockwork.
He'll also come cuddle with me throughout the day when I'm reading or
watching tv, and he'll lick my nose a lot. It's cute, but he gets cat hair
in my nose and makes me sneeze LOL

My cat sits on the back of my chair and licks my hair for up to 30 minutes
at a time.
Weird cat, but I guess licking isn't very unusual. Both of my cats
typically lick my hand or face when it gets close.

So does Cat-Boy. He likes to slick down my cowlick. Last person who
did that was my mother.

Here our dog licks like a cat. But I always thought that it was a way of
cats showing affection.

Yes. Peewee does this to my ankle every AM. It is part of our nutty ritual.

Daisy will lick anyone in the family as soon as their face is close enough
to hers. It doesn't seem to be related to the taste of skin (like a salty
taste or something) - just a friendly greeting, her feline equivalent of a
kiss. Of all the cats I have had in my life, she is the first to do this.

Symba is funny. He is a ragdoll so he spends most of his day lying on his
back with his feet up in the air. Often I will sit down next to him and rub
my hand on his belly. If he is feeling lovey dovey, he will start licking
my fingers and hand. But if he is feeling playful, I get the gnawing and
playful biting and hind legs kicking my arm. Sometimes he sits next to me
on my sofa and just licks my arm.

This is usually caused by using too much peanut butter on your "private areas".

Ours washes our yellow lab's face all the time, as well as our faces. made
the dog real nervous at first, but now she really enjoys it I think.
