Where does your cat sleep at night?

For me, sometimes it varies.  Sometimes its on the bed with me.  Sometimes
she sleeps on the couch.  She has access to the entire place, but sometimes
choose not to share body heat w/ me.

My cat's job is to look pretty, smell good, sleep, eat, pee, & poop, in
that order.

My boys sleep on the bed with us, and have ever since the
first night they were home.  :)  They don't always spend the whole
night with us, but they're always there for part of it.

Artemis sleeps on my pillow every night.  The other 6 come and go throughout
the night.  But usually Rye, Marble and Luna will be on the bed for most of
the night.  Every so often I'll wake up and not be able to move because
there's me, my boyfriend, and 7 cats on the bed.  I gladly give up my leg
room to them :)

Used to be I had one resting under my arm, and another under the
covers at my knees.  Then I met DH and he is allergic, so they have
their own space now.  Now one sleeps with the Basenji mix, and the
other has her own special place "way up high".  She's Queen Kitty, ya
know...;)

I have 2 cats:
Newcomer cat sleeps in the bedroom (on the bed, on the sill, on the hamper, on
the chair, behind the bookcase, and in the bed)...
Resident cat sleeps in many places outside the bedroom and, when he behaves,
sleeps in the bedroom (on his box, on the chair, on the floor, on the bed).

Sometimes on the bed with me, on the chair in front of the TV, on the
floor next to the heat register, on the sofa, on the rocker, on the
desk next to the computer, on the floor in the hall.

BTW, often the sleep next to me to get my body heat.

Mine sleep in the same half dozen spots each time.  If I look in those
half dozen spots i'm sure to find them every time.  Even when it is
medication time.

Pounce sleeps on the couch or the chair (preference shown for where a
blanket has been left or a pillow laying flat).

Jazz sleeps in the "house" of the cat tree or on the hamper in the
bathroom.

Blade sleeps in the crook of my arm with his head on my shoulder or
"hugging" my foot (only for part of the night, usually about 2 or 3 he
gets up and is "busy").

Hey..I named a foster kitty Pounce.  Pounce de Lion to be exact.
He was a cool looking guy...looked like a chocolate point.

| Where does your cat sleep at night?

On my pillow and gradually moving on when I move - in order to get the whole
pillow for himself :-)

Some time during the night Micky is active. I find the results of that in
the mornings:
Rug thrown down the stairs, stolen items like flowers, lighters or clothes'
pegs hidden away somewhere. :-)
(What a darling! My kids complain that the cat has more freedom than they
have...)

On my bed and my desk (on a special cushion) and on our couch and on the
stereo and on the guest room bed and on the window ledge and on the floor in
a patch of sunlight and in the basement if there's thunder and on my
photocopier (on a special pad) and...well, you get the idea - anywhere they
like. (We have two.)

That's what my Clarence likes to do too - an accomplished pillow thief :o)

When the mood takes them, our two cats like to lie squeezed against on both
sides of the bed. They're both dark-furred, so this makes me the human
filling in a kitty Oreo.

That's exactly what Artemis does!   When he wakes me up for my 5:00 bath, I
notice that I have about 2 square inches of pillow and he has the rest.  :)
He's just too damn cute to kick off though!

Pandora sleeps on the pillow, but she has to have a hand to lay on and lick
when she feels like it. Occasionally she'll bunch herself up under the
pillow and lean on my shoulder to lick my face.

Persephone likes to be under the covers or on the covers, but almost always
on the back of my knees so I can't move.

Maddie (foster) sleeps on my chest or my back, just so long as it's absurdly
close to my face.

Peaches (foster) sleeps nearby, within arm's reach, but the only time she
wants to be -on- me is if I'm awake enough to pet her.

Erm...do you get any sleep at all, and what if you want to change your
position? Or have you given up on that one?

If I need to change my position, I just grab the comforter and give it a
good yank. That generally scatters them all just long enough for me to shift
around and fall half-asleep again. ;p

i have 9 cats & they all sleep in different places. right now i'm home alone
at night, so some sleep in my daughters room, some on top of the washer or
the dryer, there are chairs with pillows in front of the sliding glass door,
pillows in front of the heaters, the couch, the recliner, the computer chair
... and some choose to sleep atop the clean laundry, or in the laundry
basket filled with dirty laundry waiting to be washed. you name it ...
they've slept there.

Varies by season and their mood I guess.  (2 Siamese/tabby males. 12 years old)

a) Bed (more so in winter to share warmth and the feather comforter)
b) Cat bed (just the right size for a "catball")
c) Office chair in the 3rd bedroom (especially after it has been pre-warmed)
d) In front of a heat duct in the living room

Sasha sleeps wherever she wants to.  She is, after all; a cat.

She typically starts out on the bed when I first go to bed.
It's a good time for scritches since I am a captive audience.
In the summer she will transfer to the tile in either the
bathroom or entry.  In the cooler parts of the year she
may stay at the foot of the bed or may move to her
hammock in the office.  Where I find her in the morning
depends on how early I get up.  If I attempt to sleep in
I invariably wake up to her on my chest, nose to nose...
watching...waiting less than patiently for me to get up and
serve.  Good help is so hard to find :-)

Depends on the time of day.  Nightime scenerios:

Shadow either sleeps on the couch in the living room (mostly) or on a
chair in my room.  Only jumps on the bed to wake me up.  At 20lbs it
means he only has to jump up to wake me.  ;)

Shamrock sleeps mosly on my bed trying to steal the pillows.

Bonnie sleeps on my bed next to my legs.

I have two Siamese cats, a girl and a boy and they spend most of the
day sleeping on the sette.  When we go to bed though the boy will come
and get into bed and she will sleep next to either mine of my my
girlsfriends head on the pillows.

They are very affectionate and dont like being left on their own.

SLEEP????? Who has cats that sleep at night?  That's when they always choose
to be the most wound up of any other time!  Seriously - they do sleep after
winding down..........on the windowsill cat hammock with one eye open
watching the flying squirrels in the bird feeder, on the bed with us and the
2 labradors part of the time and under our platform bed tho is the favorite
place.

Mogie - 12 Dec 2003 23:10 GMT
Some in bed with us, some on their couch, some in the recliners, some in the
kitty room in cat beds and others curled up in front of the wood stove.

Most of the time, Cleo Carrington Smith sleeps on our bed.
When I am in it, she will sleep snuggled up next to me or in between
my legs.  If both Rob & I are in it, she will sleep either
next to Rob, or in between us.   If he is in the bed alone,
she sleeps on my spot, or on my pillows.  When she is alone,
she will get into the bed and sleep in the covers, but only during
the day, or in a storm.   She has also taken to sleeping in the
wardrobe lately.

On hot nights, she will sleep on the floor next to our bed.

Well she used to sleep downstairs in the diningroom on the rug.  I think she
was staying downstairs because she was stalking the back door and I think
there's a mouse around somewhere and she was trying to catch it.

Lately though as I'm putting up the tree and decorations she's lying right
beneath it.  It's kind of cute 'cause she looks like one of the gifts..........

Hi, I'm new to this group, but have been monitoring for some time. I'm
the 'mommy' [since 4 wks old] of a male one-yr old Siamese mix, 12
lbs). Rex can open the sliding closet door. He goes into the closet
behind my shoe rack, under the plastic thing you put sweaters in and
sleeps there.

Then about 4 in the a.m. he jumps up on my bed, puts his butt in my
face to show he likes me, then turns around and puts  his head on my
chin and goes to sleep. He'll stay there for a half hour or so, or
until I turn over [sometimes from lack of air due to a 12-lb weight on
my chest!]  Then he goes to the foot of the bed til morning.

And he's NOT spoiled !!

Tiger sleeps anywhere on the bed he wants but usually right up next to
me.  If he stretches out he goes from my shoulder to my knee.  He
always wants to be on my right side so I have to roll his 20lbs. of
dead weight over myself before I can get up.  Sparkle also sleeps on
my bed but usually just out of reach on a corner.  She's petite with
delicate features but she snores!  If she's on the corner I can't
reach her to make her quieten down.  Smart cat.

I'm so glad you confess to this ... My work colleagues think it's totally
unhygienic to let pets into the bed. (They don't own pets of course.) But I
like the warmth of the dog beside me - better than any hot water bottle,
just the right temperature, doesn't go cold in the morning, doesn't leak ...
LOL!
And then the cat next to me fighting for pillow space ... what do you want
more?

Then they would horrified to find that  all of my cats are on my bed
at  night.   (Two cats)

Especially with it being so cold here.
