Ok this is sightly OT, but it is a concern.
I have a 17'CRT (Sony 200ES), my 18 month old kitty loves to sleep
to the right side of it (must be a warm). The thing is he's so close
I worry if there is any health risk such as radiation from the monitor.
Anyone know?

You and your pet are safe. If there was a health risk, the monitor would
not be approved for household use by the Underwriter Laboratory. Maybe you
have seen that tag on the back of electrical appliances and sometimes on the
cord where it reads "UL Approved".

All CRT's do produce a small amount of soft x-rays, however the total
level of exposure is very very small. Millions of people spend a good
part of their day in front of such screens with no ill effects from
radiation.

My cat is bad for my monitor. He thinks it is
a very interesting hunting simulator.
