The heat is getting to me...

M.C. Mullen - 28 Jun 2003 10:32 GMT I have a crazy idea ... well you might think it's stupid, then feel free to say it or just ignore me ... I'm having a hard time figuring out who in this newsgroup lives where and have lost track of who owns what cats - not to mention their size and colours! The other day somebody mentioned that the frost has started (while we're dying of heat here in Europe!!) so I figured out that this person must live on the southern hemisphere. So my idea: how about introducing ourselves briefly? (Income and number of brothers and sisters may not be *that* important ;-))
I make a start:
Name: Carola, 46, teacher From: Switzerland Pets: Tom The Cat (Tuxedo, 11 months), dog (Eva, Jack Russell), two dwarf rabbits (Prinz and Emily) Crazy about: horses and all pets Favourite food: ... well, let's stop here ...

Some minds are like concrete, thoroughly mixed up and permanently set.

Dee - 09 Jul 2003 00:34 GMT I'm home sick today. I was laying in bed reading a book, when all of the sudden h0p climbed up his new stairs to the bed for the first time! He lay his head down on my leg and went to sleep for about an hour, got up for head butts, scratches and purrs (still a rarity!), and climbed back down the stairs. Now he's just kind of hanging out on the bottom stair :)

Dave - 09 Jul 2003 01:05 GMT h0p's sure is a fighter.

I love to hear him purr :)

Dee - 11 Jul 2003 20:43 GMT A couple of months ago I read a story about a woman who had been attaked by a "large, black cat" on Assateague Island. From the reports of people who had seen it, they thought a panther was loose on the island.
Last week I got mail from Alley Cat Allies that had a report on Smith Island in Maryland (I've been there and yes, it is a totally strange place). The cat population on the island is higher than the human population.
This week an adult male bald eagle was killed at the National Zoo. They think it was a bobcat from Rock Creek Park (where Chandra Levy's body was found).
hmm...bobcats in an urban Maryland/D.C. park? Panthers??

Signature 79.84% of all statistics are made up on the spot. The other 42% are made up later on. In Warwick - looking at flat fields and that includes the castle.
Artie - 03 Jul 2003 02:04 GMT Navy Corpsman
> OK, what's that then. I guess it's just a different name for a posting > we get in the British Navy but..... It's an enlisted rate/job in the Navy. We are the medics not only for the Navy but Marines too. If you watch any of the Vietnam movies, most time you will hear "Corpsman up!".
