I was out and about late this afternoon.  On a street
I have never taken (avoiding the freeway) heading
to an herb shop that I wasn't quite sure where it was
when I happened upon a Walmart.  All at once I
remembered I needed a replacement filter so I
made a quick turn into the parking lot.  There at the
entrance was some girl giving away a kitten.  I DON'T
get my cats that way (you have no idea what you are
getting) and I would never give a cat away like that.
The kitten was a male, appx 11 weeks old.  She said
the mother was feral and had the kittens outside.  She
managed to catch 4 of them and had already given 3
away.  Cute little guy, mostly white with large black
patches.  She gave it the unique name of Oreo ;-)
I told her if they were still there when I came out I would
think about it.  Well they were...so Oreo came home with
me.  Sasha is not happy, actually tried to attack him but
I know it's just nerves. Now she is letting him walk up to
her before she hisses and walks away.  ( I think at first she didn't
realize it was a cat).  I'll try and get some pics up soon.  He's a
real cuddler.  Slept wrapped up in my sweater all the way home.
I figure it was meant to be.  I shouldn't have been on that road or
at that store and I have been thinking that Sasha seemed ready for
a friend.  So..now the only thing is to come up with a name more
suited (and less obvious).  I was calling him Rio but I think he needs
a princely name to go with Sasha.  I am going to try and drop in
on the vet tomorrow.  Let's hope the little guy is healthy.

Thanks...I think.  I am not much for kittens, prefer them as cats..and
since I didn't get this one from a good rescue group I know I have some
vet bills coming up.  I already found fleas on the little guy.  None of my
animals have ever had fleas.  Not even that stray I fostered.  I bought the
3 month tube stuff but I will be glad when my vet can see him  (couldn't
get in til next weekend).  So far Sasha hates him.  Has attacked him
twice (or tried too..no contact).  These things take time though and I
also catch her being interested so I'll give it a week.  If she doesn't come
around at least he will have seen the vet.  I'll just get him neutered and
then find a better home.  Still preferable to handing him off to some
stranger outside of Wal-Mart.
BTW..I have been calling him Domino...Dom for short.  His markings
are almost like pips  (the dots on dominos)

Hey, congrats on the new kitty.  When i got my kitten, i had a lot of
the same problems, with my cat, that u are having with Sasha.  I
called the vet, because after 2 days i was tired of not being able to
sleep ect, because they would stand at the doors, and hiss ect.  So
she said that giving them both a good bath, using the same shampoo so
they both smell clean, and then spraying them both with an old perfume
u have, (make sure it doesn't stink or anything like that, remember,
you are going to be smelling it for the next few days).  That way
there is no smell from either one of em, that is threatening.  Since
the poor little thing has fleas anyway, a nice flea shampoo sounds
like a good plan anyway :)

good luck ,and i hope that helps some.
