I bought a laser pointer the other day for my cats. It is awesome!!! One of
my cats is getting a little chubby so I let her chase the red dot for
awhile....she never gets tired of it!!! If you have a large living space or
even in the backyard at night it is great fun . You can buy them for about
$15-20 at Staples or Office max. The best cat toy ever!!!!!

Just don't shine it in their eyes.

Exactly!! Don't shine it in their eyes.

A friend of mine picked one up a while ago from a Dollar Store for about a
dollar and gave it to me for Matilda. She chases the dot with enthusiasm but
does find the fact that she cannot catch and consume it, as she would a
spider or a fly, rather frustrating.

don't shine it in the cats eyes or any human eye either

Try stashing a small piece of a favorite treat somewhere that the cat
would not normally go, then lead her a meery chase to the prize.

Doing okay. I've had to put Thomas on anti-anxiety meds, he started
overgrooming when my wife got pregnant. Now most of the time he just
seems to sit in the middle of the floor with a vapid expression on his
face (not inscrutible anymore). Coupled with his weight loss (2 pounds
in 6 months; yes, he's under a vet's care) he's just not the same
anymore.

Felix has become the shadow; he follows me or my wife around the house
all of the time now plus he likes sleeping in the doorway to the
bathroom at night.

Bella has become the protector and queen of the house. She now has to
be near the baby (Evelyn Midori, 4 months old) where ever in the house
she is. She even sleeps on the bed near Evelyn whenever she's napping.
Bella also gets upset whenever Evelyn is crying.

So basically, since last year my household has grown by one teenage
daughter and one newborn daughter, two more stray cats have come and
gone and I'm looking for a larger house in the nation's most expensive
real estate market.

I'll have to put up some pictures and post a link here; can never
have too many pictures of cats :)

Sounds like a plan. But when it comes to Matilda and treats, the only things
she's considers treats are spiders and flies. The flies are long gone. There
may be a spider or two hiding out somewhere in this house, but I haven't
seen one in at least a month. :c)

Has Matilda ever tried crickets? They're easy to get at the pet
store :)

Be careful with them.. a friend got some for her reptiles, one escaped and
is now in the speaker.
It's chirping away there and driving the whole household nuts!! :-D

Turn up the volume and play some Buddy Holly to make it feel at home.
