Tom is dead.
He was found dead in a garden, probably hit by a car.
But there is absolutely no sign of an injury, thankfully.
What could he have died from?

I had a cat die a few years ago. Woke up one morning at
about 2am and found her dead on the floor. Since I had
three other cats I had an autopsy done to find out if
the other cats were in danger. They weren't.
The thinking was she died when her heart stopped. She
seemed to never know when to stop and rest.

15 months old. Unfortunately he loved to wander away. He always came back
more than once a day and also during the night.
Nevertheless he was often seen playing with another cat (which was killed 3
weeks ago too) near a very busy road several hundred metres from here. :-)
I know the discussion about keeping cats indoors. But hardly anybody does
that around here. Tommy only wanted *out*, he was a real barn cat. I often
worried about him. His life was short, but I think he lived it to the full.

I think indoor/outdoor is a decision every cat owner has to make for
themselves.
I had every intention of making Sasha an indoor only cat even though my last
two
cats never suffered for going out. It's natural to want to keep them safe
and some
area's are safer than others. All you can do is what seems best for each
individual
cat. I am sorry for your loss and that Tom had such a short life...I am
glad it was
a good one.
Conga-rats on your new Tuxedo. Morley is a good name, although I kind of
like
Tennessee :-) (name of a cartoon penguin...Tennessee Tuxedo).

Oh no, I'm so, so sorry. I don't think it will help you to try to think
of how he might have died. He's passed and is at peace. Write any time
at all Carola.

Yes, it might be helpful. Could be something that could
affect other cats in the household.
When I had the autopsy done it was with concern
over whether my other cats (3) were in any
danger.
