My cat is 6 to 8 yrs old healthy female She is a indoor cat and only goes
out into the garden during the summer time My wife complained about trowing
up fur balls, so I bought a bag of Hagen Nutrience Elite. She has been on
Elite for 3 days and this morning had diahrea that was red with blood.
Has anyone had this problem with this brand of Cat food. The cat food
contains Bromeline to prevent hairballs as well as herbs (rosemary,
thyme, oregano, fenugreek, fennel, cayenne and ginger) to improve digestion
and intestinal stability.
What caused this reaction, what can I do for her and could there be damage.
I removed the new food and switch her back to SophistaCat dry cat food.
If you have any ideas please email me

Its never a good idea to simply switch foods when the new food is so
different from the original (changing from friskies to meow mix isn't a big
deal).. going from OTC cat food to something different like that will upset
your kitties stomach, and thus irritate her stomach and intestines. Always
introduce new foods slowly, by putting a bit in with the old stuff, and
increasing it slowly over weeks if not a month or two depending on how she
takes to it.
I'd recommend adding some of the old food back in with the new stuff, and
contacting your vet for some medications to help with the current
irritation.
