Someone has been putting cat food outside and a huge stray black-white cat
waits by the door.  My cats claw the door and stare at the stray.  What should
I do to discourge this stray cat so that she will go away?  The stray has a cut
near its nose and I am afraid to leave the door open with just the screen.  The
stray sometimes sticks its claws in the screen and tries to climb it.  Help!
What should I do?  I feel sorry for the cat too.  The cat is big and I am
scared of it.   :((

Don't be scared...it wants to adopt you.

How well do you know your neighbours?
You could ask them not too put food out for the stray, and explain your
concerns?

The poor thing probably wants food, attention and maybe a kind word or two.
Your cats and the stray may be starting to forge some sort of friendship.
Don't "vanquish" her....she may just go away on her own as some strays do. I
doubt she means you or your cats any harm.
