Litter Locker

Hi All,

I rescued two new cats, so that was two more litter boxes...
When I had just the one cat, I only had one litter box and he wasn't very
picky about his litter, so I would just change out the whole thing once or
twice a week.  Now I have three cats - the two new ones are pickey about
their litter, that could get very pricy.  I tried to scoop for a couple days
and bring it outside - but I could tell I would not keep it up - too much
trouble.  I got one of those litter lockers for $20 at Petsmart and I am
really happy with it. No odor whatsoever. I don't mind scooping now because
it is not much trouble.  I also got clumping litter - that made it easier
also.
Anyhow, YMMV.

Or is there another model? I've been eyeing something like that but I wasn't
sure if it would work.

I just got one today - it's pretty spiffy! Have you have to change the
plastic on yours yet? 'Cause it looks kind of intimidating.. LOL   And of
course, the cats were soo happy I brought them home a box to play in..

Yep, I have and it wasn't too bad.  I quickly transfered it to another
plastic bag and took to the outside rubbish bin.  I have three cats by the
way.  The litter boxes are not in the bathroom, so flushing would be a real
pain.  My cats, too, were enamoured with the box.

How long can you go between refills, generally?

I own a litter locker too and it definately makes scooping the cat box
easier with no odor in the house or the garbage can.  I would recommend this
to anyone, especially with 2 or more cats.  I scoop out my 1 cat's box daily
and  if I had two, I would do it twice.

So what do you guys do when  its full? Where do you empty it?

I got 5 cats, but I just flash number 2 down the toilet. I was scared the
council might stop collecting rubbish here if I put it in the bin?

I bag it again, tie that bag in a knot at the top and put in the rubbish bin
at the street.  I have not had any complaints from the trash company.  I
used to put all the litter from the week in a bag and in the street bin. -
This is an improvement!  My litter boxes are not in the bathroom, it would
be tricky to walk accross the house with cat poop - I not only have persian
cats, I have persian carpets! (and I like both *grin*)

Hi, I've had my LL for 6 months now and love it! The first time I had
to replace the refills I had a bit of trouble, I couldn't get the
plastic to come out. But now I make sure I start pulling out the
plastic from where the notch is on the refill.  I scoop however many
times a day as necessary (spshully if Rex has a bowel movement - - gas
mask time!), but only turn the handle once at night.
Love it, love it!

So sounds like you only have 1 cat? I'm wondering how long everything will
last as I have 5.. Although, if I like this one enough, I'm thinking of
getting 1 or 2 more for around the house so I don't have to drag this one
around..
