supposed to entice the cats to drink more water?

I see a whole bunch in the Foster & Smith catalog -
anyone have any of these and do they work?

I am interested in hearing about experiences
with the water thingies...

Just to clarify, I think the reason they attract the
cat is because of the tinkling sound the water
makes as it is running through the system of the
"fountain" -

I hope this makes sense.....

I have *three* of the Drinkwell Fountains in different areas of the house.
At first, the cats were afraid of them, so what I did was set it, empty and
unplugged, in a high traffic area of the house.  A place where if they
wanted to get from one side to the other they would *have* to pass the
fountain.  Every day I moved it a few feet closer to where their food/water
dishes were.  Finally, it was sitting right next to their water dishes, and
they ignored it.  Then I added water to it, but still did not plug it
in/turn it on.  I stopped filling their water dishes and kept frsh in the
fountain.  Fianlly, when I saw them drinking from the fountain, I turned it
on.  Instant curiosity about the new stream eminating from it.  That was the
first fountain, since then we have added the other tow, and I have to add a
cup or two of water to each one every day (there's no way *that* much water
would evaporate in a day's time)

I had a Drinkwell for a couple of years and I never saw my cats use it.
I gave it to a friend and she says her cats use it all the time.  I
think the difference I feed mostly canned so they don't need to drink
much.  My friend feed mostly dry so her cats drink a lot.

The Drinkwell terrified my cats at first, but now they seem to really like it.
I think the filtered water _has_ to taste better than toilet water.

Since Spike eats wet & dry food, I don't think I
am gonna buy the fountian at this time...

Blessings to you & yours!
