Hello Agent Smith.
Fleas are programmed to be attracted by warmth. When a warm cat or human walks
by -- they know there is a meal and they jump.
You can take advantage of this programming to get rid of fleas.
Take a fairly large shallow container -- like an old litter box, fill it with
an inch or two of water. For warmth -- Get one of those clip on light holders
and mount it on the container, put in a low wattage light bulb, 15 watts or
less. Locate the container near where the cats hang out -- like near the
litter box or so.
The fleas will sense the warmth of the light bulb, jump off the cat and fall
into the water. You then can watch the little fleas do the back stroke.
This works for dogs to.
Of course, the light holder must be strong and securely mounted to make it
impossible to knock loose. As an alternative you can try an aquarium heater in
the water, set on high. That seems less effective, and of course -- you need
to keep an eye on it for safety.
This Flea Eradicator System is copyrighted -- as I have been thinking of
putting it into production. :-)

Don't leave the poisoned water where the cats can get at it.
Actually, a bit of soap or dishwashing liquid will destroy the surface
tension so the fleas will sink and drown.

Already patented flea traps on the market with light and sticky paper
work just as well. Less hassle to set, less dangerous.

Hello Agent Smith >>>
An additional way to fight fleas is the Microwave. If you feel something
biting -- take your shirt, jeans, boxers, and so on, and put them in the
Microwave. Only for 15 or so seconds. That will be enough to kill the the
fleas. Don't use much longer, because your clothing might have metal parts
(zipper, buttons and so on) that will get hot and burn, if you run it too long.
Small metal parts will not damage the Microwave, but use caution and play it by
ear -- use just enough time for a zipper to get warm.
You can also put the cat bed in the Microwave. If the bed is too big - put a
towel over the bed and once in a while -- put that in the Microwave.
Hope this helps.
Hans.

At one time, I tried microwaving ants and they were hard to kill. It took
something like 3 minutes. I haven't tried it with fleas. It might make a
difference if the flea is engorged.

I heard that placing a bowl of water under a night light at night works.... they jump to the light/ heat and they get stuck in the water... But to get rid of them all you may need to do things in this order...
1. day 1 Give the animals flee pills...
2. Day 2 Wash the Animals
3. Day 2 Shampoo the floors with a Rug Doctor like machine...
4. Day 2 Set up the Light above the water bowl trick...
5. Day 3 look for evidence of flees on the animals... if there are shampoo a second time... but no more then that.
The pills will work about 5 to 7 days after there last bath.. (It works thu the oils in there hair)
Shampoo on them gets them off the animals and into the rug.
Shampooing the floor or removing rugs gets them mostly out
Then the Homemade trap gets whats left...
Good luck!
