Great news here in Switzerland: Pharmacies are allowed to sell vet medicine
too.
Is this a common thing in the rest of the world already?

I'm certainly not aware of it in New Zealand.

When one of my cats had ringworm, vet phoned his prescription over to the
pharmacy where I get my medicine.
Or are you talking about over the counter medicine..?

Erm.. yes, but what counter? So far one had to go to the vet first here and
then the assistant would give you the medicine. Now I can go into the
pharmacy and say I need something against ticks on my cat or whatever and
they should advise me and give me the stuff.

Oooo... I gotcha.. We don't have anything like that here, then. If I did
that at my pharmacy they'd look at me funny and say 'call a vet!" (I'm in
the U.S., btw..) ;)

Frontline and Advantage aren't exactly hard to find via the net...but
ARE hard to find at instore. Most stores put out the deadly Hartz stuff.

I'm in the U.S. My pharmacy shows on their sign they have pet medicines as
well. They even deliver!
Unfortunately, my vet will only dispense what he has in stock and will not
write a Rx as will a people doctor. Says he doesn't trust mail-order or
walk-in pharmacies. Too bad the people pharmacy wouldn't accept my
insurance card for pet meds --- as if I could get an Rx to them! ;o)

a lot of the medications for pets are the same that they are for people.
same strength and everything. Hubby had an ingrown toenail, and they gave
him cephalexin, which is what we commonly give to dogs when they have hot
spots.
