Hi
My cat, Chancer was diagnosed with an ear infection about 3 weeks ago. It
happened very quickly, at the weekend we noticed he was having an ear
problem by the Monday the nerves on that side of his face were paralised.
He was given an anti-inflammatory injectiion, a weeks supply of anti
biotics, ear drops and eye drops because he couldnt blink.  After the week
we took him back and were told to continue with the treatment until today.
He has finished his ear drops and tablets but the ear is still infected.
There is slight improvement with the paralysis, but it is still there.  He
is 11years old and has a heart murmur (ex feral and petrified of vets) and
now we have another 10 days on stronger antibiotics before we have to decide
if he has to be operated on.  Has anyone else ever had this with one of
their cats? Any info/advice appreciated.
Thanks
Amanda

As the pal of a an ex feral with a heart murmer who is now too ill to live
through surgery, I have a couple of suggestions.

1. Consult a specialist right away

2. If the specialist feels that surgery is in order, don't wait.

I've now had this experience twice.  when Sunny got sick she was treated
with antibiotics for three weeks before we finally consulted a specialist.
She was too ill to make it through the surgery.  Now h0p...
