Hi foplks,
just wondering whether anyone had a cat, that seems to have problems with
balancing. Falls over sometimes.
I had her checked out at the vet, who did a blood test, but nothing unusual
came up.
Maybe I should change the vet?
My cat eats and drinks, although not as much as I would like her to.
Any idea, what my cat's problem might be?
Btw, she is about 14 years old.
Thanks for any input.

Could be anything. Clot on the brain, ear problems, loss of
joint strength due to age. I don't know if you need to
"change" vets but you may want a second opinion. My
Dads vet used to be very thorough with the younger cats
but once they hit 12 he tended to attribute everything to old
age. You just have to decide if you think the vet explored
all possibilities.

I once knew a cat that had eaten moths poisoned by DDT. Cat had terrible
balance problems after that. Could your cat have eaten something toxic?

There are a lot of possibilities.. That's one of those problems can't be
accuratly diagnosed via the internet, IMO. Something to consider: other than
the falling down, does she seem any different? in pain? any other
difficulties?
If she seems like she's okay with the problem, then I would say just monitor
her. If you have to know, or if she seems uncomfortable, then I would
definatly get a second opinion..

Are you feeding her dry catfood? I just posted above about my elderly
cat who just finally didn't get into dry hard as rock dry catfood.
She ends up just swallowing it.
Change to soft canned catfood maybe if you're feeding her dry mix.
See if that helps.
Friskies Prime Entree. I cut it up in small pieces on plate like treats.
My elderly cat now stumbles too...a sign of aging.
Don't ever treat with Hartz flea treatment.

Yes, I think you should. I mean, this is not normal at all.
My first thought is that it's the ears, but then I'm not a vet.
Try phoning a vet hotline or a cat.vet. group. I'm sure there's an answer!
Good luck!

I would try another vet. Might be an inner ear problem.
Maybe a sore leg?
Does the cat seem to walk fine on level ground?
