My kitten is approx. 3-4 mon. old. I had her on Purina kitten chow and after
awhile she came down with very watery, runny stools. With medicine it got
better, after stopping the meds it came back...the vet says it sounds like a
protein allergy, so I switched her to Purina One Growth and
Development....now, she seems to be having a hard time going..she's leaving
little round balls and is in the box many times a day.
What can I give her to soften her stools? We've gone from one extreme to the
next. I've tried mixing wet food in with her hard, but that doesn't seem to
do anything.
Any and all suggestions are appreciated.
Thanks

A 1/2 tsp of mineral oil or Laxatone for hairballs for cats once a day. Make
sure she drinks plenty of water.

My kitty has had problems going for a couple of years now that sound
similiar to yours, although mine is a senior (just turned 13). In the box,
out of the box, back in, try to go, throwing up while she's trying.
Apparently she has a smaller than normal track for things to go through,
plus all my cats were getting at the time was Iams dry food, which has lots
of fibre, but not a good thing in my kittie's case. They get wet food too
now, plus Spots gets lactulose, an over the counter stool softener for
humans, just one ml twice a day, mixed with food. Give that a go, just ask
the pharmacist.
