Anyone who is a regular attendee of this newsgroup has seen my post here
every now and then. Back in early August, my cat got out the door and
disappeared.
Someone here had told me not to give up until I found her, alive or dead.
One of you also said she likely hadn't gone far and that she's probably
frightened.
Well, this morning i went outside to wait for the bus to work, and I heard
her meowing, Calling me really. I immediately knew it was her. It took
awhile to track her location but finally I found her. She was up on the
roof, two stories above ground, afraid to jump off. She'd seen me come out
the door and meowed like crazy till I found her. I climbed up on the 2nd
floor railing, which was probably a bit dangerous, andwhen my head was level
with the roof she came right into my arms. How she'd gotten up there, or how
long she'd been up there i have no idea. But she's here now, alive and
apparently well. She's maybe lost a little weight but I'm not worried about
it. She's curled up in my lap purring away as I type this.
HAHAHA, feels like Christmas morning. I'd pretty much given up hope of
finding her.

The song of the Sirens is irresistible. Those who hear it and have not been
tied
to the mast like Odysseus will perish among the rocks (c.f. - The Odyssey).

That's amazing and truly wonderful!!! I'm so happy for you both.
We had a bit of a fright last night. We have two new kittens, both of
whom nearly knock you over to get to their food when their dishes are put
down. Last night only one showed up. We called and searched every nook
and cranny in the house 0to no avail. Thinking he might possibly have
slipped out the door as we were bringing in groceries, we began looking
on the porch, patio, and yard. Nothing seems quite as hopeless as
looking for a small black kitten at night! :-) Just as were going back
in to get another flashlight, who comes strolling down the hallway but
our wayward baby. He'd apparently been hiding in a cranny we'd
overlooked!
We'd have been devastated if we'd lost him as, I'm sure, his brother
would have been. They are identical twins.

You gotta love a good reunion story. My cat disappeared and we searched the
entire house for about an hour. Finally I was standing in the kitchen just
trying to think of other places to look when something made me look up. She
was sitting on the top of the folding door which wasn't completely closed
looking completely pleased with herself. How she got there we've never
figured out.

Gosh! I am so happy for you. Yes, I remember your post. I can only imagine how
you must be feeling now.
I once went through what you did. I lost my cat for almost a month and I was
besides myself, spending most of my spare time scouring my neighborhood. When
she was able to returned (apparently trapped somewhere as she was filthy and
thin.) I was pleased as punch. It was from this incident that I learn to never
let my cat wander outdoor again.

Wow, great story, and I am glad to hear you are re-united with your cat
after so much time.
We got our two cats when they were 4-5 months old, and kept them inside
the house until they were fixed and ear-marked after a few more months.
When we let them out of the house for the first time we had a scare! The
one cat went straight up one of our taller trees and of course couldn't
get down herself! We had to get a double ladder and go up after her. Then
we had the initial scares of them not coming back for hours! Now, we
hopeless parents have calmed down a bit, as it seems our "kids" always
seem to find their way home at some time or another. But it is a
frightening feeling when they have been away for a while - can't help but
wonder if something bad happened!
But our two cats love our yard and the freedom to be outdoors, so despite
our fears, and the chance that they may come to some harm, we let them
come and go as they please.
