Hip Surgery for my Cat

Hello all.

My cat Mystic was hit by a car and ran away on the 7th of Sept.  My children
and I scoured the area calling and looking under bushes etc.  We knew the
general direction because of a witness to the accident.  Even though we (and
several of my children's friends) searched, we could not find him.  On Sept
11 at 1:30 in the morning, I heard a meow at the front door.  Thinking my
other cat Majick wanted to come in from the pouring rain, I hurried to open
the door.

And there was Mystic sitting on the mat.  I could not believe my eyes.  He
limped in, soaking wet, and went straight for their dish of crunchies.   I
immediately woke up my children.  We dried him off the best we could and
then he tried to go up the stairs, but could not.  We carried him up to my
youngest daughters room and made a bed for both of them on the floor.  He
immediately flopped down with his back against her tummy so she could hug
him.  We were so happy to have him back.

At 8 we were at the vet, hoping the weekend times were the same but they
were not.  Eventually we were able to see the doctor and have x-ray's of his
foot and hips.  Thankfully there are no broken bones and his foot is swollen
because of the abrasion only.  However, his hip is totally blown.  He will
be going for hip surgery on Sunday or Monday and then will be out on Tuesday
the 14th or Wed the 15th if all goes well.

My problem is that the cost for the initial visit is 155.00$ plus tax and
the surgery is going to be aprox. 800.00$ plus tax.  I have been able to
borrow most of the money but am short.  I would never beg for myself but I
will do anything for my children and we all love Mystic, and I believe that
he really loves us.

If anyone would like to help - even just a little bit - this is the vet.

No 2 Road Animal Hospital
9471 No. 2 Road 110, Richmond, BC V7E2C9

I have not told the vet that I am doing this so if you can help by giving a
payment over the phone with credit card or can actually drop by because you
live in the area and give cash or debit (this vet will not take any checks),
his full name is Mystic Beldi. If you wanted to mail a cheque to the vet
made out to cash I will cash it personally.  He is a black house cat with
beautiful round green eyes.  He is amazingly friendly and obviously has a
strong will.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Blessings to all.

My best prayers and good wishes for Mystic.  Have you looked through your home
for anything you can sell on Ebay? If you work, can you get any overtime? If
you don't work, can you get a part time job - at least on a temp basis?  Good
luck.

Thank you for your prayers,
I am unfortunately strapped as a single parent whose roommate gave short
notice - on top of that - I received a notice of rent increase starting
January 1.  I do work full time as well as part time already and do not have
enough time left in the day to see my girls on some of those days.  I do
have a new roommate moving in but not in time to pay the vet bill.  I did
not want to leave Mystic in pain for a couple of weeks while I try to find
the rest of the money.

I appreciate your response and thank you for your prayers and good wishes.

Have you talked to the vet about the possibility of making payments for the
balance?
Some vets will be willing to work with you for expensive procedures. As it
sounds like you have a sizeable amount to put down up front they may work
with you for the balance.

Believe me I have tried - I think he has been burned too many times as they
will not even take cheques there.  He is an excellent vet and does work with
the homeless cat society here as well so please do not get the idea that he
is heartless.
