I had a pretty bad experience with a car before which resulted in me
having to give her a way to a family member.  I had two males and a
female.  From a very young age, we found she was urinating all around
the house.  Nothing worked. Medications, behavior modification,
additional boxes, nothing.  I gave her a way to someone and being the
lone cat there, the random urination stopped.  This was a horrible
experience as it nearly ruined my house.  We've since then moved and
we still have the two males.  We took in a stray last February
(because I'm a sucker and it was cold) and at first, things were fine.
But now one of the cats has been urinating outside the box.  I think
it's the girl, but I'm not entirely sure.  Any suggestions? I really
don't want to go through all this again.  It was very costly and if
I'm being honest,  none of us really have the attachment to this cat
that we did with the others or the other two males.  I suppose a vet
visit is in order before doing anything else.  Any help would be
appreciated.

You'll have to determine which cat or cats are doing this.  You can isolate
each one or one at a time.  Once you discover this, take the cat(s) to the vet
for a medical checkup to rule out any med problems. Review to see if anything
has changed since this began. A new schedule, new visitors, etc.

I took off the lid and everything seems to be okay.. .not sure why...
had the lid on for 6 months without problem.

Maybe one of the cats ambushed another coming out of the covered box and the
ambushed cat decided he/she would rather see what's around when doing
his/her business.

But she always pooped in there. Damn cats are weird. I've had so many
and each has been completely different. =)
