My cat has decided that she likes to sleep in the bathroom sink!  Now
as cute as she looks I'm wondering why she would want to be crowded in
such a small space - actually it kind of fits her size kind of nice -
but it is kind of unsanitary isn't it?

With cats there is a new law that was recently passed by
congress......the larger the cat the smaller the box they
will try to get into.   The same applies to sinks and
other objects that can remotely contain a cat.

Try letting the water drip a little, may cure the cat of the desire to
get into the sink.   Also does the cat have enough water to drink?

considering where your cat licks with it's tongue...
the bathroom sink in probably not terribly unsanitary

btw: i;ve heard the the kitchen sink is actually the most un-sanitary place
in the
house!

Nope.  That would  be one 1.  the toilet. 2.  the mail box during
election season.

Maybe a way to tell you that she'd like one of those sink shaped soft moulds
on a cat tree? Mine love theirs!

Nikka used to sleep in a plastic punch bowl on top of the kitchen cupboards.
When she got bigger she moved to my laundry basket on top of the dryer.  Now
she has about 10 different places she can be found to be sleeping.  She
liked the bathroom sink as a kitten because the tap used to drip and she had
fun playing with the drips and then had a ready source of water.  It no
longer drips so the bathtub is her game of choice.

Unsanitary for you or the cat?  LOL.  I think it's fine.
Actually it's a logical choice in the warmer weather.
The porcelain is one of the coolest surfaces in the house
and the size and shape is pretty close to the kitty beds.

Actually I was thinking that about the porcelin - the same reason why I think
she likes to lay on the kitchen table.

The sanatation issue never bothered me.

I've always find a cat sleeping in the sink to be cute & adorable--a can't
miss photo opportunity.

If you want it to stay out, though, then I guess you could leave a little
dripping in the sink--although I have seen cats use that as a drinking
opportunity. Or, you could squirt with a water gun everytime you catch the
cat in there--or leave the bathroom shut if you don't need to have the
bathroom open for any reason.

I put a little basket in the sink to keep her out - she saw that and didn't
like it - LOL!  So she started sleeping on the side.  When I put the basket
back next to the sink - she decided she didn't like it there and knocked it
down!

She is a defiant kitty!

Cats love to sleep "surrounded" like that, but with their head free. It's a
comforting feeling that reminds them of being in the womb. That's why you
find them backing into handbags, beds, etc.
