My cats have a problem they are spoiled. Recently one of the neutered
males have been spot peeing on my bed , the throw blanket on the couch
and any dirty garment laid on the basement floor to be washed. I don't
know if it iis an urinary tract infection or jealousy or just that
they want to start going outside ?? They never go out only to get
brushed on the deck and that is it.Is it the litter im using , but it
has been the same for the life of the cats or are they in need of a
second box or should i clean the one on a more regular basis?? I am so
desperate and if i go to vet what will they want as a sample and how
do i get it? Please if someone out there is reading and has an answer
Id apreciate it very much .Pmunkford@comcast.net TIA

It could be any of the above. Unless their routine has undergone
a big change just prior to the problem it's more likely that there
is a reason he doesn't want to use the box. Could be medical
so you probably want to get him checked out before it becomes
serious...or it could be that with the warmer weather the cats
are drinking more and using the box more. If you have more
than one cat you should definitely have more than one box.
I have two for one cat but only so I can clean them out every
other day rather than every day. :-) Try adding a box
with a different (unscented if you aren't already using it)
liter and show the problem child where it is. (after you
rule out a medical problem of course)

How regular are you in cleaning the litter boxes? cats are fussy and like
everything clean, none of my cats have used the same box twice.
I only have one cat now, but put two boxes down and replace a soiled one
with a clean one immediately, if I have to go out for any lenth of time I
leave several boxes a couple in the bathroom and a couple in the laundry

Some cats are really into peeing on clothes and blankets because they
can root aroudn and "Dig" in these things just like in litter
Put the dirty clothes in a hamper so they are harder for the cat to
get at
I am not sure about the blankets but wash them well so they don't
smell like litterbox to cat, or he will keep using them as a potty.

One of my cats pees on the bed when she decides not to use the litter
pans or to go out. For months the dogs kept her in, then I gave the
dogs away and after a while she learned she could go out. Then about
ten days ago she started doing it again - this time the problem turned
out to be a broken garden tractor.
The tractor had been in the shop for almost a month, and the back yard
had not been mowed in least another two weeks: only a couple of the
cats were willing to go out into the tall grass/weeds.
