Hi everyones...thanks to read. Is there's any miniature device that my cat
can wear on it's collar... a kind of radio receiver so if i hit a button on
a transmitter, a beeping sound can be heard on the receiver so i can locate
the cat more quickly.  My female cat Sasha is spending most of the time
inside, and when she's outside...she goes out with us in our backyard. She
"normally" stays in her territory... but sometimes, when she feels that we
are not watching her...she tries to explore the neighboors' yard. We now
know that cat's are specialists to play hide-and-seek games. Often it
happened to us searching Sasha outside when she was in fact in the house!
:-)  Anyone here is aware of any such device to help us "monitor" Sasha's
location?  TIA

Ther is something to keep in mind when putting any collar on a cat
that wanders: sooner or later the collar will get hung up on something
and either the cat will manage to get out of it (and you lose the
collar) ... or not (and you lose the cat).

But if the collar is detachable it won't strangle
the cat and if it has a locator then you won't
lose the collar, right?

Depends on where it's lost: if my snowball lost one, it would most
likely be on somebody else's property somewhere within a mile or so of
home, but not withing the several hundred feet you could expect as the
maximum range of the locator because there's not much to snag on that
close to the house.  On the other hand, if Fluffy lost one, it would
be within a few feet of the house.  If Fleagor lost one, it would
probably fall into water (he hunts frogs).

I got a collar on my shirt and I never have gotten hung up on
anything.  If you are really worried about this, put the collar on the
cats tail.  If the cat gets stuck, their tail just pops off and you
still got the cat.

You may be Quebecois, but you own a cat. Cats are good. Cats are
English, did you know that? Well, here's the answer to your question.

Say HI! to Sasha for me.

I enjoyed the tribute page. Thanks for writing it.

Thanks to all of you for the replies. I thought about a <150$ solution...so
The Cat Locator is a bit expensive... but may not be for other applications.
(I only need a 200~300 feet range). I'll check at some local petshops
tomorrow to see what can be purchased directly in store.

No problem John...thanks for reading it!

You can buy an electronic locator from Sharper Image. I am not sure it this is
good for the cat though. It might freak out the cat.

I don't know how I missed this when it was first posted ....and I don't
really know of any such device...but dang if I couldn't have written
this myself.  Not only is my cats name Sasha but my situation is
exactly the same.  She plays in her own back yard chasing bugs
and killing blades of grass.  She comes when she is called 99% of the
time but every now and then she doesn't and I spend 30 minutes looking
for her only to have her come out of the house and look at me like "what".
I'd love to have a GPS on her :-)

I learned a long time ago that when you call a dog he comes. When you call a
cat, it takes the message and may get back to you.
