Hello All,

I am owned by a 2 year old white neutered male Turkish Angora. I adopted him
from a rescue as an adult cat last year.

"Boo" has a very strange behaviour (or reflex). You see, when ever he smells
any food other than his dry diet OR when ever he happens to look at a person(or
the dog) who is putting something into thier mouth, he GAGS! He has never
actually vomitted, just has like a "dry heave". I did ask his vet, who told me
it could be a result of excessive salivation brought on by the food stimulus,
but she hadn't had a patient with this before. She said not to worry about it
unless he actually vomits. Its just so.. WEIRD!!

Anyone else seen a kitty do this?

Thanks!
Mary

Never seen that! That is strange. You must have a unique kitty.

I would say it's excitement of a new food is more than it can handle. Cats
are pretty simple as far as food is concerned, and either fear, or
excitement can cause GI upsets.

Does he ever bring up a hairball?   If not, try some hairball remedy
and see if that helps.   MLB

And if that's not convenient, a tablespoonful of olive oil might do it.

Or include some hairball food in the diet.
