When I was a kid I used to pick on cats. It was like a compulsion. I threw
rocks at them, pulled their tails etc. AS I got older I got more
inventive.I dont know why I did it. I was an a.shole. I am 53 now. ABout 5
years ago I found a little runt feral kitty that had been dropped in our
lawn. It was blazing hot and she was dying. I guess her mom got rid of her
for being too small. She could just barely croak. I knew that sooner or
later no matter how cute she was I would start to torment her but
something happened. I bought her a bottle and fed her like a baby. (Had to
she couldnt drink)This lasted for three weeks. Her eyes werent enven opem.
SH started to groe on me. She followed me everywhere. She didnt know I was
her mortal enemy and it touched my heart. I fet horrible for every rock I
had ever thrown. Every cat I had tormented. She was my conscience kitty.
She is unlike any cat in the world. I spoil her rotten. I have never
touched another cat in anything but a kind way since she came into my
life. When my girlfriend left me she was there. She didnt know I was a bad
lay or boring or a dumbass. Or whatever she left me for. I hope that she
outlives me. I lost a daughter in 96, she was 16, sh loved cats. I think
that maybe her spirit came to me in this little ball of fur and mischief.
She is SO SPOILED. She seems to understand. I have had people come to me
and say "I have never been a cat person, in fact I dont really like them
but your Kitty is different!"She has probably saved the lives of cats,
turned abusers around...and she's so mean!hahahaNot really. Im gonna have
to go she is walking on

I'm wondering if there are others out there that harbor similar
feelings about reincarnation and their cats?
I also think the 'mellowing' you're experiencing is a product of
aging. I recently had a fellow tell me that since a near-death
experience when one of his organs failed, he can no longer even
puncture a worm with a fish hook.
