Hi.....You don't say where you live.  I live in North TX, and as a rule, we
have a huge flea problem.  My cat and others I have had were all indoor
cats.  We NEVER get fleas and my vet does not believe me.  What is the
secret?  Take care of your yards with spectracyde or diazanon...start at the
house and work out to the edges of the yards.  This has worked for me for 19
years.  Oh, we have also had dogs that only went to the backyard, unless we
took them for a walk, and because we took care of treating the yard, the
dogs never got fleas either. Once you get the outdoors taken care of, then,
use flea powder to get rid of them on the cat...flea collars are junk and a
waste of money.  It will take a couple of weeks with the powder...don't
apply it too often..maybe once a week.

"the flea stuff you put on their neck" is a pretty broad category - it
includes products that kill eggs only, some that kill some fleas and
some cats, one that costs a lot and may work for at least a week, and
one that costs a lot but actually does kill fleas and ticks for about
a month if applied properly.

I live in the country and have eleven indoor/outdoor cats, two of
which have severe flea allergies.  I use Frontline on all of them
every month and have no problems.  If I slip up and let them go too
long, I get fleas all over the place that go away a week or so after
dosing the cats.
