Well I've read all of the advice given to me here and even read a lot
online. I am taking a little bit of all to make my cat as comfortable as
possible.
Today we put him in boarding at the Vet to ensure he will be around when
it's time to go. He doesn't like strangers and we have the movers in
tommorow and Wednesday. This way we know where he is and in good health.
I've updated his microchip information today. Next step is to go to
Petsmart or PETCO and have a couple id tags made with my cell number. My
liittle dog will go into boarding tommorow just to get her out of the way.
We will pick them both up on Thursday and take them to the hotel we are
staying in as they do accept small pets.
Friday is the big travel day. We bought a medium sized pet carrier and put
the cat's bed in it and sprinkled some cat nip. We will try and keep him
off tranquilizers. He will probably just sleep anyway. We won't feed him
until we stop for the night.
Our dog we can walk and take out at rest stops. She rides well in a car,
especially in her own car seat we bought. Both will be restrained in the
back seat of my truck and will have an ample supply of cool air blowing back
there. The only problem I see is rest stops for lunch. We may have to
rotated so as to keep the truck running the air conditioner.
Wish us luck and I'll report back any problems or concerns. Hope to pull in
to our new home by next Monday evening or Tuesday morning.

Good luck with the move! I hope it goes well for all of you, 2 and
4-footed. What an adventure.
